There were 3 Gingham paperdoll sets published in booklet form, all between 1976 and 1981. The main artist who drew them was Susan Morris and she is credited on the cover of each booklet. It is interesting to note that some of the dolls were exactly the same in some of the sets, using the same undergarments on the girls, and the same dresses show up in booklets as well as in the coloring books, sticker books, and boxed sets.
At least one of the booklets was published with a variation in the cover, perhaps more variations are out there waiting to be found. As with any of my info websites, if you have information to add or correct, PLEASE feel free to email me.
