This cutie was done for a Patriotic Doll Swap run by the Yahoo club Customizersoflilfolk. Faith has periwinkle blue eyes and black wavy curls. Her hair is long and wavy in the back with shorter waves in front and tendrils to frame her face.

She wears an outfit in deep navy blue with a red skirt with blue details. She looks like any other 3rd grader at Woodrow Wilson Elementary, but Faith has a secret!

Faith Flagg was just a normal little girl until her 3rd grade class took a field trip to see the Liberty Bell on September 11th.

In a freak accident, a falling piece of meteorite knocked over a barber pole near the children and Faith was hurled against the bell!

When she woke she was seeing stars AND stripes, but she found she had developed strong powers of telepathy and telekinesis!

After being told about the horrible events in New York City Faith vowed to use her powers to fight evil and protect freedom across our nation!

By day she is still just Faith Flagg, a normal 3rd grader, but afterschool (but always in bed by 9pm) she becomes...

Starchild, defender of American Freedom

(and president of her 4H club).

Armed with her Liberty Bell of Justice and her faithful feline sidekick Stripes, she goes wherever she is needed, protecting Americans from danger and from fear.

Starchild wears a spandex bodysuit of deep navy blue, with a silver star belt and breastplate. Her silver high boots protect her when she needs to kick a litle justice into criminals.

Her cape is a stunning knee-length cape in silver and royal blue, and can be worn over the shoulders or tucked behind her. It ties with a bright red ribbon that matches her headband.

She spends the afternoon flying through the air in search of good deeds, and spends her nights watching the stars and hoping for a tomorrow without hatred or violence.

To my friends, many of you know that I did indeed lose someone special to me on that terrible day in September. I have cried for her and the others, so many others, and no words can express the pain that comes to mind whenever I think of this horror. This doll creation was not in anyway meant to make light of or diminish our remembrance of the tragedy.

It is in fact an expression of celebration in our country, in our pride, in our need to go on and to heal and grieve and live our lives without fear. It is a much-needed practice of my creativity which was stunned and wounded and even now comes slowly and with much effort.

That day can never be forgotten but neither can our strength, our determination and the undauntable spirit of freedom that our country has embraced. I never considered myself a patriot but since September the colors and shapes that symbolize our nation have become more precious to me than any money or toy or possession. We have already won, by being who we are.
