Minx's Ceramic Creations: Pagan and spiritual pieces!

Here are photos of the various pagan and spiritual projects I have painted at a local ceramics studio.
(see below for the link, it's a FABULOUS place to work!).

Sorry, none of these pieces are for sale, but feel free to email minxkely@xnet.com if you are interested in a custom piece for yourself!

The Gorgon's Platter
February 1999

This is a very spiritual piece for me. I have long been fascinated
by the history and mythology of the Gorgon Medusa. This is a platter
with her image and various metaphysical symbols including female
musicians at the Feast of Bubastis. This piece took well over 50 hours
to produce.
14" diameter

Jack in the Green
February 2000

This charming man is the Green Man of Celtic and Arthurian mythology.
He is the Lord of the Forest, and the giant in Gawain and the Green
Knight.I did his leafy visage in 6 shades of green with a washed and
sponged then detailed finish with underglazes. He took just about 9
hours to produce.
14" long and 9" wide

Pagan Altar Piece
Candlestick
April 1999
I made a series of 3 pieces for my altar, and this was the first.
It is a simple candlestick decorated with pentacle, goddess symbols,
skyclad woman and tiny flowers and spiral key patterns. It took
about 4 hours to make.
3 1/2" diameter at the base and 6" tall

Pagan Altar Piece
Gorgo's Goblet
April 1999

My second altar piece was a goblet bearing the face of Gorgo, the ancient
Medusa and fat lusty libyan goddess. Her roots trace all the way back to
an aspect of Kali and she is one of the earliest goddess influences known
to man. The goblet also includes a frontispiece from her temple found at Corfu,
and floral, spiral and greek key motifs. It took about 4 hours to make.
4" diameter at the cup and 8" tall

Pagan Altar Piece
Gorgo's Bowl
April 1999

The final piece in my altar trio is the square shallow bowl.
Each side has the same golden background and the same Gorgo's
face and serpent themes as the other pieces. The temple
frontispiece is on 2 of the sides and the Medusa face is on
the other two sides. It took about 3 hours to make.
5" square and 4" tall
