A collection of paper dolls both sweet and nostalgic.
Published by Whitman, Western, Golden and Rainbow Works Publishing Corporations (these companies overlapped ownership of the Ginghams and Western published under various subsidiaries, changing backgrounds and logos a bit throughout the years).
Click here for details:ie logos, isbn #s, numbering systems etc.
These were published in the years 1976-1981 and the main artist who drew them was Susan Morris. To my knowledge, the series began in 1976 with a Little Golden Book called "The Backwards Picnic" by Joan Chase Bowden and illustrated by Joanne E. Koenig. Following that was a Whitman Tell-a-tale Book called The Ice-Cream Parade by Joan Chase Bowden and illustrated by Kate Lang.

There were 16 boxed sets published in 4 different years, as well as various paper doll booklets (3 that I know of), painting and coloring books (5 that I know of), a word puzzle book, a Xmas ornament book and sticker fun books (2 that I know of).

Dear Minxkelly, WHERE CAN I FIND THEM?

I get dozens of emails a week from people wanting to buy the paperdolls or coloring books and all I can tell them is to look on ebay. EBAY is where I found each and every one of my Ginghams items. I have none to sell so please do not ask. sorry!

Note: these pages under progress, all subsidiary pages will be updated as often as time and my health allows. Please stop back often for updates. Thanks!

BIO
The blond girl I always envisioned and playacted was a frivolous sometimes snobby debutante. Apparently she had no hobbies or occupations, other than being a student.
The girl with raven tresses that I viewed as wealthy, well-bred and mostly friendly, sometimes prissy. She owned a fashionable dress boutique, but also ran a booth at the county fair.
The brunette overachiever with eclectic talents. She ran a country store as well as an ice cream parlor, but still indulged herself as an artist with her own studio.
The brunette with an earthy temperament and a warm, outgoing personality. She loved animals, owned a pet store and a farm, and was a great cook in her country kitchen.
