Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens to the beautiful sounds of the island choirs. She lays there in bed looking out at the trees and listens to the music for quite awhile. Finally, she decides to get up and go take a bath. She grabs the shampoo, toothbrush, and clean clothes and walks to the stream. After her bath, she walks back and on the way, she comes across some oranges. Three of them look ripe enough to pick, so she picks them and brings them back to camp.

Today will be fun. They don't have to work, so they play all day. Plus, they have plenty to eat. They have taro/banana cookies, cold oatmeal, oranges, and bananas. While Mandy waits for her friends to wake up, she sets up the horseshoe game to play later...

From Colleen

The voices of the choir fill the air, making the skies seem a little bluer, the trees a little greener and the ocean just a little more breathtaking. You realize that at this time next week, you will have either made it to the final 8, made it halfway through the game, or you will be the last player to get sent home until the end of the show. Anyone who makes it to next week is guaranteed a place on the final jury, the one that chooses between the last 2 players as to who deserves the title of Lil Survivor. You and your tribemates have made it this far, and for that you should be commended. Congratulations folks! The game is just about halfway finished and you are still here! With luck and skill, perhaps everyone here now will be here in the final team. Renew your strengths today, and set your will to winning! Outtype, Outplay, Outlast!

There are light showers in the air, and it is HOT! 87 degrees with a heat index of 95. It's a cloudy day and only the strong wind from the east/northeast cools you off. With no fire perhaps you can put out any extra containersto catch the rainwater for a nice hairwash, or to drink.

11:31
Jun 3, 2001

Lola wakes up and goes down to the beach to wash up. She sees Mandy's wet hair and surmises that Mandy washed it ir and thinks that's a good idea so she washes hers too. Lola returns to camp and greets Mandy and Lyda Ruth. "Good morning. The choir sounds so pretty. I wonder if Roxie is back in her church this morning?"

16:07
Jun 3, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy, Lola, and Lyda Ruth spent the day happily playing games. They played hide and seek, horseshoes, Monopoly under a shade tree, and in the evening, when it cooled down, they even played soccer with Mandy's ball. It was so nice to not have to worry about chores for the day!

Whew, we sure had a lot of fun today, didn't we?" asked Mandy. She set the table with orange slices, bananas, taro/banana cookies and glasses of cool water. The girls munched and talked happily through dinner.

21:46
Jun 3, 2001

Lola nods. "We had a lot of fun today." She yawns. "I'm getting sleepy. Good night, girls." They all head for bed.

22:54
Jun 3, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

"Good night, Lola...Good night, Lyda Ruth." Mandy stretches and covers up with the beach blanket. They sure had a tiring, but fun day. Tomorrow, they must start thinking about beating those Nicarongs!

23:03
Jun 3, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy wakes up bright and early. She dresses and takes the water bottles to the stream to fill them. She brings the water back, stokes up the fire, and starts to boil the water. "I wonder what fun we'll have today?" she thinks as she works...

07:24
Jun 4, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy takes the boiled water and carefully pours it into the water tank. The girls still seem to be sleeping, so she takes the sunblock and the beach umbrella down to the beach. She puts sunblock on and then relaxes under the umbrella. Soon, she is busy building a sand castle...

10:34
Jun 4, 2001

Lola gets up, greets Mandy, and heads for the beach to wash up. After munching on a banana taro cookie for breakfast, she goes off to hunt for some more taro, being sure to wear her gloves.

14:31
Jun 4, 2001

From colleen

keep the water handy today! it is 86 degrees with a heat index of 96. The humid air make everything muggy, your hair sticks to the back of your neck and your clothes are just plastered on your body with sweat. Theres a breeze from the east, but no sign of rain today to cool you off.

15:59
Jun 4, 2001

Lola returns from the woods with some taro. "Boy, it sure is hot today. Why don't we go swimming, girls?" The kids change into their swimsuits and head for the beach to cool off. They have fun splashing around in the water and playing tag.

16:27
Jun 4, 2001

Lyda Ruth

"Gosh girls, it almost seems like we have lived here forever, doesn't it? I sure do miss "Roxie tho, never thought it was gonna be so hard to let people go, but we will be friends forever, so I am not worried about that, I just wish one of us could have won this thing, then the winner could buy all her friends lots of new Barbie dolls teehee"

21:01
Jun 4, 2001

Lola nods. "I miss Roxie too. Let's just hope we don't have to vote anyone else off this week."

22:20
Jun 4, 2001

The girls agree that Roxie is sorely missed. They wonder what she is doing: if she's living it up at home, eating lots of pizza and hamburgers and all the yummy things they miss. They also wonder if she misses her friends from the Ocono tribe. Sadly, Mandy, Lola, and Lyda head for bed, curling up together on Roxie's pillow. "Good night" they call to each other. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

23:42
Jun 4, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens early once more. She decides that she needs to wash her hair, so she totes the shampoo and clean clothing along with the water bottles down to the stream. She spends quite a long while just relaxing and swimming around in the stream. It is another warm day and she enjoys the coolness of the water...

07:55
Jun 5, 2001

"Good morning, Mandy," Lola calls, joining her in the water. "I'm full of energy today. I'm going to swim a bit, then go out looking for some more fruit. Do you want to join me?"

10:47
Jun 5, 2001

From Colleen

It's windy and rainy today, with a grey overcast sky and a steady light rain that gets blown around all directions byt a strong wind from the east. The fire is barely kept going. It's 86 degrees with a high hea index of 96 so it feels like you are just melting. Not a very fun day and swimming isn't even a good idea to cool off because the water is choppy. At least there is the umbrella to use for the potty runs!

14:57
Jun 5, 2001

After being tossed and turned in the water, Lola and Mandy return to camp and join Lyda under the umbrella for a day of quiet games, hoping the weather will improve. They play cards with the deck Mandy won at the luau and talk about home.

17:20
Jun 5, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy shuffles the cards and deals them out for yet another game. The girls have once again piled sand and dirt high around the perimeter of the fire which seems to be helping to keep it lit. It is so hot! "I sure wish this wind would die down so that we could go swimming! It is miserable out here!"

18:16
Jun 5, 2001

Lola agrees. "It sure is. I wish it would stop drizzling too. It's hard to do anything with the weather like this."

18:37
Jun 5, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

As the sun goes down, the girls are terribly sleepy. It is still quite hot and that makes them tired too. They all go and wash up and head to bed. They share Roxie's pillow and none seem to even want the blanket over them this warm night. Before long, they are all sleeping...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

23:31
Jun 5, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens and realizes that it is now day 51 on the island. "Wow!" she thinks. She dresses and runs down to the stream for the day's water supply. She comes back to camp and stokes up the fire and starts boiling the water. She then checks the fish trap...there are four little fish in there. She catches them and cleans them for breakfast. They hadn't eaten much last night for dinner, so she is sure they will be really hungry this morning.

Once the water is done boiling and has poured into the storage tank, she starts frying the fish. Lola and Lyda Ruth are awakened to the wafting scents of fish frying...

06:23
Jun 6, 2001

From Colleen

the rain from yesterday continues, but only light showers now, with short little sprays before tapering off for a little while. It is only 84 degrees and cloudy and misty out. Only the lightest breeze from the east is present. Not a perfect sunny day, but better than yesterday!

The challenge has been posted on each tribe's private challenge beach. Good luck!

07:45
Jun 6, 2001

Lola eagerly eats her fish breakfast. "Great job, Mandy. They say fish is brain food. I hope that means we will win today's challenge." After breakfast, Lyda and Lola head for challenge beach while Mandy cleans up the camp, promising to come help them later.

14:26
Jun 6, 2001

Lyda Ruth

"Lola, I sure am nervous about this, I sure hope we win tonight and tomorrow night, ice cream would be delicious but more importantly winning the immunity would be great, so we can merge together, I didn't really want to have to merge but if we win I will do the best I can to help get one of us as far as possible, let's work SO hard at thie Lola, I promise to do the best that I can!!!"

14:59
Jun 6, 2001

Lyda Ruth

"Hey girls, it was so hot today and we worked so hard, I have an idea for something fun to do. Have you guys ever gone swimming at night??? I love it, let's do it!!! We don't have to go out far, just at the edge, splash and cool off then we can go to bed and not feel so hot" so the girls head down to the water's edge and splash and frolic till they are exhausted. They still have not heard which tribe has won the reward challenge but are too tired to wait up and see if gia comes by, surely she will not come till morning anyway. Now there are just three little Ocono girls left under the shelter. they put a few pieces of fish in for Clyde to eat, then settle their heads on Roxie's pillow, and wait for that ever elusive sandman to make his appearance once again.

00:19
Jun 7, 2001

Lola reads tomorrow's tree mail and is worried. She cannot compete until late afternoon or early evening. She hopes this isn t going to screw up chances for the tribe. She doesn't care which challenges she competes in, but obviously if the others want her to go first, they will have to wait until late to do them.

01:47
Jun 7, 2001

from colleen

I am ready with the puzzles.. the basic gist of it (other than using the metaphors for "racing") players 1, 3, and 6 can take their challenge at anytime, but no points are scored until the other logic/word parts are done, and those have to be done in order, 2 (might take the longest) then 4 then 6... They start with a possible 30 points, and however many points player 2 gets, that is the maximum possible points for part 4, etc.

07:58
Jun 7, 2001

from Colleen

okay since no one seems to be around, I am taking a nap til noon or so. be back online then!

08:07
Jun 7, 2001

Lola was here for a minute, but didn't see Gia. She will be back sometime tonight. She hopes Lyda and Mandy understand what they're doing because she doesn't.

11:09
Jun 7, 2001

from Colleen

I am back and available now for challenges, players #1, #2, #3, and #5 can goo at this time. when player #2 is finished then player #4 can go. good luck!

11:41
Jun 7, 2001

from Colleen

I need to know which players are running #1 #3 and #5 before anyone takes those challenges. no changing after we begin.

11:44
Jun 7, 2001

from Colleen

From colleen: I didn't mean I needed to know for all parts, but for each one racing, they need to decided before they do any, which one or ones they are doing. no changing their mind once they start. sorry for the confusion.

12:28
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen

there's a calm wind and nice light showers off and on. The day is cloudy, and a very comfortable 82 degrees. compared to the heat of some recent days this feels positively cheerful. The rain is sporadic, and not enough to interfere with any activities.

14:06
Jun 7, 2001

From colleen

one last detail

in case of a points tie, whichever tribe completed all portions of the challenge first will win immunity, but this is a long one so don't feel rushed! neither tribe has even finished player #2's puzzle.

15:32
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen

just to prepare you all for the day, please email as soon as you can do the challenges, and please post who is doing which parts. thanks!!!

You reach Challenge Beach and see it full of flowers. there are 2 big baskets, and 2 3 wheeled bikes with a riding bar on the back. You also see thick knotted ropes hanging from each side of the Sipyen Falls! This looks like it will be an interesting race!

17:29

the races for both teams, all 3 races have been run, when the puzzles are complete I'll post results.

21:31
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen: You reach Challenge Beach and see it full of flowers. there are 2 big baskets, and 2 3 wheeled bikes with a riding bar on the back. You also see thick knotted ropes hanging from each side of the Sipyen Falls! This looks like it will be an interesting race!

Gia takes back the immunity necklaces and idol then explains that this is a 6 part race, and lets each tribe decide on their line-up. She gives the empty basket to Aggie and explains that Pierre will race her through the path and she has to grab as many flowers as she can while he pedals. "Don't fall off or drop the basket or you will be disqualified and get no points!" Gia says. Aggie gulps, but takes the basket and climbs on the back of the trike. The tricycle is on a path of wooden planks laid out in a stripe down the beach and beyond. That makes Pierre relax, peddling thru the sand would have been a nightmare!

From the Nicarong tribe, Lola climbs on the back of the trike while Mandy works the wheels. All eyes are on the race as the kids take off! Aggie has to hold on with one hand and frantically grab at the blooms with the other! Pierre pumps his legs, and pedals faster and faster! Petals fly everywhere as Aggie grabs and grabs! Mandy works her muscles furiously, trying to keep up with the cajun lightning as Lola stuffs fistfuls of blooms into her basket.

22:51
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen: They speed off down the path and the tribe waits breathlessly until both pairs come speeding back down the way the came (having looped around a big tree at the other end of the beach). As they come back, Nicarong has a strong lead over Ocono. Mandy fights and fights but can't catch up. Pierre pulls right up to Meghan who is waiting by the ropes to take the basket from Aggie. As the basket changes hands, Meghan loops it over her shoulder and starts to climb. Gia says, "Nicarong wins the first race, no flowers lost yet! 3 points for Nicarong!"

Lola and Mandy pull up and Lola jumps off the back of the trike and starts to climb the rope. Gia notes that she hasn't lost any flowers either, both teams still at 30 flowers. One fat flower looks like it might tumble out of the Ocono basket, but Meggie's elbow nudges it back in the basket. Higher! higher!

(more soon)

22:52
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen: Lola has great strong arms and starts to close the distance between her and Meggie. Meghan is up about halfway now and she loses her grip, sliding back down the rope about a foot! She yelps but keeps her cool and climbs up to the top, scrambling on the wet rocks and jumping across the narrow falls. She lowers herself down on the other side and starts to repel her way down, not dropping a single bloom! Lola is now almost right at her side as they start to climb down. Lola gets halfway down, closes her eyes and JUMPS! she lands on her feet, not a bloom lost, and hands her basket to Gia who is sitting on a rock by the falls. As Meghan touches ground several moments later, Gia speaks in the anxious silence, saying, "2nd race goes to Ocono! 3 points tied so far, no flowers lost."

Gia takes the basket from a saddened Meghan and she turns to Mandy and Inita, waiting blindfolded to touch and guess at each flower she hands them. One after the other the girls handle and try to determine what kind of bloom they have. Mandy calls out "crocus! daffodil! magnolia, sunflower!" Inita holds one bloom to her nose, calling out "jasmine!" then "hyacinth!" The girls continue, "orchid!" "dahlia" "heather!" "dandelion" "thistle!" until each one has emptied their baskets and Gia smiles as neither team loses any flowers.

The last race begins as Trey and Lyda Ruth take the baskets and must run up the wooden plank path to grab a ribbon off the tree and tie it on the handle of their basket then rush back! They are side by side the entire way! Their feet are flying as each one races to make it back first and put their basket on the hillock on Challenge Beach. As they come back into sight Lyda Ruth begins creeping ahead, 3 inches, then 6, then a full foot ahead of Trey, he groans and tries but cannot catch up as little Lyda dashes and lands her basket on the hill first. he puts his next to Ocono's and hugs his knees trying to catch his breath. Gia checks and no flowers have fallen out, and she says "Last race to Ocono, 6 points for them, Nicarong, 3 points, just the last part and then we will know!"

23:48
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen:Inita and Mandy face off, each one giddy with the suspense as Gia pulls one flower at a time out of each basket. the girls must match them up with their names, some of the latin names are just impossible! but the girls think until their brains hurt!

Lola and Lyda gasp as Mandy gets one wrong, then another! almost crying out as Gia takes the flower and throws it on the ground. Inita gets every single one correctly, smiling and hoping for her team to win. Finally on the last flower, each girl guesses correctly, leaving Ocono with a total of 28 flowers and Nicarong with 30...

Final scores!!! Nicarong 33, Ocono 34. Ocono wins immunity!!!!

23:50
Jun 7, 2001

From Colleen: hahah! correction, on the ropes a bloom almost falls from the Nicarong basker and Meggie elbows a bloom back into her basket, not into Ocono's! sorry bout that!

23:57
Jun 7, 2001

Lola jumps up and down. "We won! We won! Lyda, now you don't have to go home!"

The girls comes stumbling back to campe giggling and jumping for joy over their victory. It was a tough and hard match but they did it. Soon they will have to merge, but they have made it this far together, who knows how far they will go!!! "Here's to you Roxie," Lyda says as she holds up a cup of water, "this victory belongs to you as much as to us, and you will stay with us till the very end"

00:12

Mandy can't contain her excitement! She is so happy. She was so certain they were going to lose...and it was a great surprise to find that they had won!

Mandy awakens early. She wants to get her chores done as quickly as possible so that they can all play today. She takes clean clothing, soap, shampoo, and the water jugs to the stream. There, she bathes and washes her hair. Then she walks up stream and fills her water jugs.

Back at camp, she stokes up the fire and boils the water. "Boy what a fun day we are going to have!" thinks Mandy.

07:37
Jun 8, 2001

it's drizzly and HOT, 86 degrees only but with a 96 degree heat index. careful out there today folks! a strong wind from the north northest is present, but since you are on the southern edge of the island you do not feel it as much.

you're here, everyone here will still be here for the final game. that joyous fact is still bumping around your brain today as you realize Nicarong must send one last player home today. you wonder which one will go.

it's drizzly and HOT, 86 degrees only but with a 96 degree heat index. careful out there today folks! a strong wind from the north northest is present, but since you are on the southern edge of the island you do not feel it as much.

13:49
Jun 8, 2001

Lola wakes up and heads for the beach to wash up. She hums as she washes her hair, happy that Lyda and Mandy will both be going with her in the tribal merger. She wonders how the Nicarongs are faring, deciding who to vote off. She is so relieved that the Oconos won last night. All clean, she heads back to camp and greets Mandy and Lyda. "I'm starving. Let's have some oatmeal and decide what we want to play first. Horseshoes? Cards? Monopoly? Or maybe we could play with Wanda's soccer ball. Didn't she leave it for us?"

16:52
Jun 8, 2001

Lyda Ruth

"yes let's lay and play and play!!!! And then let's boil up a huge pot of rice and pig out this evening around the fire, we haven't eaten much of our rice, and I think when we merge we get new food rations, so let's be gluttons and eat and tell stories and play. who knows what it will be like after we merge, they may be mean to us and this is the last chance we will have to just be with each other and play and not worry about anything. I'll straighten up the camp while you guys take care of the water jugs, then maybe we can swim and then play games" Lyda bustles happily around the campsite picking up stuff that the girls had left laying around in their haste to do the challenges yesterday and then last night they were too happy to bother with cleaning up after themselves.

18:01
Jun 8, 2001

Lola and Mandy go to get more water. With all this heat, they have been using it faster than usual. They come back to camp and start a fire to purify it.

19:00
Jun 8, 2001

From Colleen: just to let folks know (since I forgot to mention it before) if there is a tie at council then who ever had the most previous votes against them gets sent home. It hasn't happened yet, but especially after the merger it may be a possibility.

20:21
Jun 8, 2001

From Colleen: Folks are already asking so I'll tell you now... the merger will happen early next week, watch for a tree-mail Sunday morning with details.

14:46

Lola watches the helicopter rise in the air, carrying Lyda back to civilization. Lola is very worried about her friend. She wonders if Lyda has appendicitis or if it is something she ate or merely the thoughts of missing Roxie and home. She says a silent prayer that her friend will be okay, then she heads for the water to wash up and haul some water back to camp for sterilization since tomorrow is Sunday and they won't be able to have a fire. There are just two little Oconos left now.

16:01

Lola looks sadly at Mandy. "I hope Lyda is okay. I am really scared for her."

23:10
