Lola and Mandy have a restless night's sleep, worrying about Lyda Ruth. They awaken early to the sounds of the choirs and it gives them some peace. They head down to the beach to wash up.

From Colleen: It's 86 degrees todsay with on and off showers. The heat index is HIGH at 96 degrees, but the breeze cools you off even though it keeps changing directions. The sky is cloudy with puffy white clouds, for all the rain you get, the sky is almost alwast pretty... Even the rain and heat cannot get you down today. The island is as fresh and green as ever, the sounds of the passionate loving choirs fills the air and just echoes all over the island. You made it!!! You are in the final team, the last stretch. Congratulations Lil Survivors! Now the real game begins.

TREE-MAIL!!! Written on a large engraved invition is the folloing poem: The road was long, the battles tough, the enemies fought dearly, but enemies could be allies now, you cannot see so clearly, Each player for himself must fight, one against another, and so the foe from just last night must be your tribal brother

Inside the invitation it reads: You are cordially invited to visit challenge beach Monday for a new tribal summit. All merger details will be explained. LIMIT ONE PERSON ATTENDING.

Jun 10, 2001

Lola and Mandy try to cheer each other up by playing cards and talking. Lola finally asks, "Mandy, do you want to go the tribal meeting or do you want me to go?"

20:52
Jun 10, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

"Lola, why don't you go? You are so much more outgoing than I am," says Mandy as she draws a card and plays her hand...

00:53
Jun 11, 2001

Lola shrugs. "Well, if you're sure..." She gets an evil glint in her eye. "Maybe I can use some of what I learned from my book."

The girls finish their cardgame and head for bed. As they're settling down, they realize that they haven't seen Clyde since Lyda Ruth left. They wonder if he ran off or if Lyda took him with her. Or maybe he went back with his crab friends. They feel a little sad that yet another of the familiar faces from the island is gone. The girls cuddle up next to each other on Roxie's pillow and drift off to sleep. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens and realizes that it is Monday, Day 56 of the game...She wonders what Lola will be doing today for the day. She hopes they feed Lola something extra special during this meeting. Mandy gets ready to fetch more water and take a bath in the stream. Before she leaves camp, she stokes up the fire so it will be ready for the water when she returns.

Mandy gets to the bathing spot of the stream and jumps in. "Boy is that water cold!" she thinks as she shivers. As she takes her bath, she wonders how Roxie and Lyda Ruth and Clyde are doing. She misses them all terribly...

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy returns to camp with the water. She puts it on the fire to boil and decides to go get some bananas for breakfast. While she walks down the path, she finds some ripe oranges and decides to eat those instead. Evidently, Lola has already gone to the meeting. Mandy hasn't seen her today. She wonders some more about what fun things they will do today. "It sure is quiet at camp being the only one here," she thinks. She sits down under a shade tree and eats her oranges. She saves two for Lola, just in case they don't feed her.

Mandy sets up the horseshoe game and practices trying to hit the post...

11:04
Jun 11, 2001

Mandy grows tired of playing horseshoes. She takes a container out to the ocean, scoops up some water, then drags it up the beach to the umbrella. She sits down and starts mixing sand and water and creating another sand castle. "Hmmmmm, I think I'll make little people out of twigs and things and place them around the castle when I get done," she thinks as she works...

14:35
Jun 11, 2001

Lola returns from the summit, feeling a little better about the merger. She hopes Pierre was being honest with her. But either way, she at least won some can goods and she and Mandy can have a good supper tonight. "Hey Mandy, I'm back! Pierre and I were the ones at the summit. Gia said she will tell everyone about it. Anyway, we played truth or dare and I won a can of chili, beefstew, cream of mushroom soup, and Spaghettios so we can have good food tonight." She hesitates. "I hope I didn't say too much. I just tried to be honest about our concerns and that we feel if one of us goes to the end, we will all be winners." She shows Mandy the cans of food. "I got to eat at the summit too. I wish Gia would have let me bring you back something. But at least we have these. You chose which one we will eat tonight."

17:36
Jun 11, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

"Wow!" "Lola, don't feel bad about getting to eat there. I figured Gia would feed you." "I had oranges. Here, I saved two for you." she says as she motions toward the table.

"Since I love Spaghettios, I choose those!" giggles Mandy. Oh, what a nice supper we'll have!"

00:05
Jun 12, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

The girls cook the Spaghettios later in the evening. Boy were they delicious!

As the sun began to set, the girls tidied up the camp and enjoyed the sunset. Both girls were apprehensive about just what would occur in the next few days. Would they like the Nicarongs? Would they be moving to the Nicarong's camp...or would the Nicarongs be coming here...Maybe a new camp...the girls were a bit scared. Mandy wished that Lola had shared more of what was said...then maybe she wouldn't be so scared...The girls were in for a fitful sleep tonight...Zzzzzzzzz!!!!!!Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

00:10
Jun 12, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakened still frightened. She wondered if today was the merger as she dressed and got ready to go and get water.

At the stream, she once again walks down stream to the bathing spot and swims around in the water for awhile. It is already warm this morning and the water feels great! No matter how much she tries to relax, she is still worried...

07:28
Jun 12, 2001

From Colleen: Good morning Kosrae! well, it must eb a good morning SOMEWHERE, but not here, not today. the temperature is fine, only 84 degrees but the sky is grey and overcast and a light rain combined with a medium strong wind from the east makes for a very unfun unfriendly rainy day!

I will send treemail shortly about tomorrow's reward challenge. The summit photos and transcript have been posted. check the Main Page for the game at yahoo to see them.

11:48
Jun 12, 2001

from colleen, most of your food is gone, but at least you know you only have 1 more day to wait for new supplies! the merger is tomorrow!

12:05
Jun 12, 2001

Lola wakes up in a good mood, despite the weather. "Good morning, Mandy. It's so nasty out, maybe we should play some games. We haven't played Monopoly in a while. Maybe we could do that. I hope the weather improves enough to start a fire. We've still got three cans of food, even though our other supplies are running low. Since we're merging soon, we may as well eat one today for lunch and another for dinner." She looks up at the sky. "I sure hope this rain stops. I don't think I'd like cold beef stew."

12:57
Jun 12, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy and Lola try to play monopoly, but the wind keeps blowing the money and cards all over the place. After several minutes of chasing paper money across the camp, the girls decide to put the game away. "Lola, let's play cards. Maybe they won't blow away quite as badly," Mandy says with a laugh.

19:51
Jun 12, 2001

Lola agrees, frustrated by the wind and rain. The girls play cards for several hours, looking hopefully at the sky every once in a while. Lola tells Mandy more about the summit with Pierre while they play. They express their concerns about merging. Lola tries to reassure Mandy that Pierre seemed nice and sincere and willing to welcome them into the fold. Finally, the rain stops enough for them to get a fire started. They heat the beef stew and enjoy a soggy dinner.

20:31
Jun 12, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

As the sun starts to set, Mandy gets very sleepy. Her stomach is full from beef stew and her eyes are getting droopy as she listens to the raindrops hit the leaves and the top of the shelter. She snuggles under the beach blanket and watches the flames of the fire dancing and sputtering as stray raindrops hit the flames. She is still very scared about the merger. She thinks that she will be voted off Friday because she will be one of the "new kids" or "cousins" as Lola said Pierre put it. She wonders how the race will go tomorrow for a reward. She didn't choose her strategy wisely, just randomly and she worries that that too will be bad...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Soon, Mandy is in a fitful sleep...

21:55
Jun 12, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens in the middle of the night. She did not sleep well. She is very nervous about the merger. Will they like Lola and Mandy? It is just like the first day of school and she is terrified...she gets up and walks along the beach. She sits down and watches the dolphins swimming in the distance. They bring a little peace to her and she eventually dozes off there on the beach...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

01:42
Jun 13, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy awakens...at first she is confused about where she is, then she remembers that she had walked out onto the beach in the middle of the night.

She gets up, stretches, and then gets things ready to take a bath and gather water. She walks to the stream and takes a bath and washes her hair. Next, she goes up stream and fills the water jugs and drags them back to camp to purify. "Wake up, Lola! We've got a busy day today! We have to try to win a reward!" says Mandy as she taps her friend on the shoulder.

A whisper on the wind

"Good luck girls, hang in there and stay strong, our love and good wishes are with you till the end", love Lyda and Clyde

Gia, hope you don't mind this one last word of encouragement to the last two lil surviving Oconos

11:58
Jun 13, 2001

Mandy Estelleita

Mandy felt a little better as the wind kicked up and she somehow knew that Lyda Ruth and Clyde would be rooting for Lola and for her.

Mandy walked to the fish trap and scooped up the three fish swimming around in the trap. "Well, Lola," she shouts. "We'll have a good breakfast!" She then proceeds to prepare them and cook them for a great meal.

From Colleen

You arrive at Challenge Beach and Gia and Bri are waiting there. set up around the clearing are several obstacle course type items. You see 3 long logs tied to a framework about a 2 feet off the ground, a triangular A-frame is made from branches and has a net up one side, ropes dangling down the other, and finally, the ropes are back on each side of the sipyen falls. Gia says that each portion of the race is worth 2 points, and who ever finishes all of them first gets another 5 points...

The order of the obstacles is this... #1)balance on the long logs and walk from one end to the other (if you fall off you must start again) #2)climb up the net side of the A-frame, and repel with the ropes down the other side (or just jump, repelling is not mandatory)... #3)climb up the sipyen falls with the ropes #4)climb down the sipyen falls #5)wiggle UNDER the 3 logs and race back to Gia

14:13
Jun 13, 2001

so for each one above, the fastest person (ie with the highest number) gets 2 points... (ties randomly deteremined) As Gia points and explains the order of the race to you something starts making your mouth water. You smell french fries! and a hamburger.. Gia sees people looking around so she pulls a cloth off the small table in front of her and you see a happy meal from McDonals! still warm..

She bites into the cheeseburger and slurps the coke. Mumbling between bites she says "The winner will get a happy meal of their choice delivered to them for dinner tonight!" She says "Good luck everyone!" and Briene nudges her with an elbow. "Can I try to Gia? just for fun?"

Briene lines up with the players, some of whom look at each other quizzically.... Gia counts down .. "Three!" "two!" "One! GO!" The race is on!

14:14
Jun 13, 2001

As each kid races to the 3 long logs the players try not to elbow or jostle each other.. Pierre hits the logs first, scrambling up and balancing as if he were walking on the logs in the bayou swamp. Lola and Trey are right behind him, very carefully balancing and tiptoeing across the wood.

Just a little behind them are Aggie, Lollie and Bri, now at the halfway point as Pierre and Lola are nearing the end... Trey tuimbles off harmelssly, but muttering at himself as he must run to the start of the logs and begin again. Pierre jumps off the logs' end first! winning himself the first pair of points.... Lola and Aggie still close behind him...

As Pierre scrambles up the net to climb the A-frame he seems to have some trouble, and Lollie and Trey catch up quickly! The A-frame is taller than the kids by several feet and the smaller kids have some trouble getting started as Trey scrambles over the top of it first, but Lollie swings herself over and takes the leap of faith, jumping to the ground and earning herself the 2 points for that part! It's still a very close race.

14:15
Jun 13, 2001

As the kids approach the dangling ropes by the falls, Trey and Meggie pull a little ahead from the others. Lollie loses some of her strong lead by slipping in the water's edge and falling on her rear. She jumps right back up though, but Trey and Meggie are already halfway up the rope with the other kids mostly at the bottom. By the time Meggie manages to pull herself over the top rock, Trey is only 3 breaths behind, but she gets the 2 points for this part of the race.

As the other kids scarmble up that side of the rope and then splash through the 3 feet of rushing water, they are all almost even again... Each little pair of hands grabs a rope and starts to climb down, some repelling, others just scrambling and hanging onto the rope for dear life. The falls are not that high, but it is a little scary to the kids. Trey shows no fear though, expertly repelling and kicking off to spin down 3 feet at a time, touching the ground while most of the kids are only halfway down. 2 points for Trey!

As Trey starts to wiggle under the logs his height works against him, letting Aggie and Lollie slide right past him in a frantic urge to win.... Each girl wiggles and pulls herself under the logs, scrambling as low as possible and still making progress. As the rest of the kids start wiggling under too Aggie slides out from under the last log and begins the final race to Gia with Lollie only a step behind her. 2 points for Aggie!

14:16
Jun 13, 2001

With 5 different players each winning 2 points, this race is going to be close! Each kid gasping breath and pumping their legs and arms trying to be the first to reach Gia...In the last section of straight running Bri and Mandy each run amazingly fast, coing up from the rear, but can't make up for all their lost time. Gia stands and smiles as Aggie, Lollie and Pierre are dead even with each other... In the very last second Lollie finds a second wind and breaks forward just far enough ahead to reach Gia before the other 2! Lollie wins 5 more points and wins the challenge!

As Gia hugs Lollie the others kids come up, panting for breath but congratulating Lollie for a job well done. As Gia lets them all calm down, some of the kids dipping their heads into the waterfall to cool off, Gia explains how the merger will happen today... "All of you will now return to Ocono Camp. Your new supplies will be given to you tomorrow as will anything from Nicarong you might want, but for tonight you will have to make do with what the island and what Ocono offers. Welcome to Kansi Tribe!"

She then gestures to Briene, "And a special welcome to Briene who is our new replacement player since Lyda unfortunately left the island. She will be competing on the same level as the rest of you and after today will have the same fair chance as all of you have to win both rewards and immunity, and ultimately, the grand prize. Now you can go to Ocono Camp, now Kansi camp, and I will bring Lollie her dinner tonight. Lollie, let me know when you get a chance at what time you would like to eat (central).

14:18
Jun 13, 2001

As the kids let all of this sink in, they sort of hear Gia in the background explaining that Kansi is the Kosraean word for "chief" and since ultimately there can be only one chief, it is an appropriate name for their new tribe. She also explains that as each player from Kansi is voted off they will remain on the island to watch events during tribal councils and when only 2 players remain, the jury of banished members will cast their votes for who should win and who will be the only remaining Lil Survivor.

Mandy and Lola will have to show you the way to Ocono from Challenge Beach. (the NEW chat page for everyone is listed below, please do not return to chat to your old pages)
