Behind the Scenes Question:
*******************************************
Tue, 12 Jun 2001 14:59
During the last few days before the merger the producers give each player a chance to clean up, choose their favorite outfit with them (including camp clothes) and take a new photo for the new website.
As the children each pose for a photo with their luxury item
(sorry, Meghan's is still missing and was never found),
Gia lets the cameramen work, then asks each player one question:
"What got you this far?"
*******************************************
Meghan replies "Lots of luck, friendship and caring about people."
Lollie says "I don't really know what got me this far! I try to help and listen when someone needs me. I guess I am just not too terribly hard to live with!"
Pierre smiles and says "My tribemates, their unselfishness, and their willingness to forgive my mess ups. My ability to hunt has helped I think. But mostly it has been the love of my Kosarae family that has got me through."
Lola replies "Instincts, friends, and logic."
Briene has to laugh as she answers "a vacancy in the final tribe!"
Mandy says "Persistence, hard work, friendship, patience, and determination."
Trey replies "Well I guess it is by being a team player. I think we should do things to keep our team strong and healthy. I got a little lost down a wrong path at first, but I think I found the right path. I try to help contribute when I can. I am definately not the smartest person here. I think everyone knows I think of our team as a family, and I love them all. I also love being on this island and seeing all it has to offer. I think that is part of the reason I am here is because I like being happy. Noone wants to be here with someone who is miserable. I don't know how much longer I will be here, but I plan on enjoying all of that time."
Aggie answers "I think I got this far because I set my mind to be a Survivor and that's what I am!"
*******************************************
After going off with Mandy to look for fruit, Briene whispers to her.
Thu, 14 Jun 2001 08:51
Bri looks around to make sure no one is in earshot. When the coast is clear she
says to Mandy
"Everyone seems so nice and helpful! We sure are becoming a family fast.
I know that you and Lola are close since you spent the last 59 days together.
I guess it is just a matter of time before the Nicarong members vote you
off. Good luck in the immunity challenge today!"
Smiling she says "I guess it is only a matter of time before either the Ocono and the Nicarong vote me off since I am the outsider here. But I thought maybe if I sort of matched my vote with you and Lola we could maybe survive longer. Would that be OK with you?"
Thu, 14 Jun 2001 10:22
Mandy replies,
"Bri, who do you see as the weak one? I'm not sure who to vote for. They
all seem so nice and all of them are hard workers. You might want to ask
Lola too. You know...see what she thinks. It might be worth a chance!"
Thu, 14 Jun 2001 11:56
Briene looks around again to make sure no one is hiding in the bushes to overhear before saying to Mandy, "It is really tricky. Can you get Lola alone today and ask her if she would like to pool our votes together? I will keep my ears and eyes open for one of the other tribe members who may seem open to joining. It would be less weird if I approached one of them since I am technically not on either side. If we add one more to our 3, assuming Lola joins in, then we could possibly be split down the middle. It all depends who wins immunity today. It may be too risky to talk more about this right now..."

Briene looks casually over her shoulder to see if anyone is in earshot before saying to Pierre, "I am amazed at how great you are at trapping lobsters! Everyone has been really nice to me so far. It is hard for me coming into the game now, though. I am not sure where you stand and I don't want to make you mad, so I'll just ask it. Any chance that I can join my vote with yours so I can survive here a little longer?"
Thu, 14 Jun 2001 15:03
Once Bri and Pierre make it a good way from the camp, she looks around to be sure no one is lurking in the bushes. She asks him "Did you think about what I asked you earlier? I know I am the outsider and you don't owe anything to me. You are a very strong player. You, Mandy, and Lola are the best players here. If I had to choose anyone's team to be on it would be yours! I don't really expect anything from you. But I would like the opportunity to play the game a little bit longer."
Pierre replies "Bri I don't whisper anymore. So this is the only whisper I will answer, and the only reason I am answering it is you are new. I am sorry but I am pretty up front and I will make myself obvious. Don't worry about whispering to me though I just won't answer any more because of things in the past."
When they are further out in the woods though, he whispers again. Pierre looks around and they are way out in the woods! No one is no where to be seen! He then whispers very softly, "If you can get those two to go with you and keep me secret. I say we vote for Meggie other wise one of the Ocono girls are going to be voted out! If you can do that then I will vote with you all. It would be a vote 4 to 4 and Meggie has two votes already, unless one of the Ocono girls have more than two votes, Meggie would be voted off. Be real careful whispering the tree's have ears!"
*******************************************
Lola is the first to get to the new beach, and she wins immunity.
Lola enters the clearing at the new camp, almost afraid to hope she really is the first one there, but she must be because the pretty coral and seashell immunity necklace is sitting right there on top of all the gear and boxes. There is also a small paper bag! when you open it there is inside 3 small plastic packages of crackers and cheese (the kind in the tiny compartments) there is also a capri sun drink and a sealed plastic bag of hard candy, about 6 pieces of jolly ranchers. All of this could be buried without anyone knowing. Lola ran way ahead of everyone else so no one is anywhere near catching up. As Lola puts the immunity necklace on, she must decide what to do with the snacks.
Lola gives this considerable thought. It would be so easy to hide her winnings. But her conscience kicks in. Her new tribe mates have been very kind to her (so far) and she doesn't want to alienate them. She also remembers how it felt to lose reward challenges when her tummy was growling. She decides that it is best if she shares with the other kids. She smiles happily that she has won immunity and she wonders who will get voted off this week.

While Mandy and Lola check the fish traps this morning, Mandy whispers to Lola..."Briene would like to form an alliance with the two of us." Mandy looks around to see if anyone is awake, then continues..."She is going to see if she can talk one of the new ones into alligning with her as well." "What do you think?" Mandy then splashes into the water after the fish that are in the trap...
Lola hesitates, giving this a lot of thought. "I don't know. Bri seems very nice, but I don't want to alienate anyone else if we have an alliance. At the summit, Pierre gave me the impression that an alliance is what caused some trouble with the Nicarongs before and that is why they kicked off one of their kids. Unless I misunderstood what he was saying. I don't want to burn any bridges with Bri, but for now I think we may be better off just being friendly to everyone and doing our chores. It's up to you, of course. I just think I'd like to get to know all the kids a little better before I team up with any of them."

Briene looks around to make sure no one is in earshot, then whispers quickly to Mandy, "Did you get a chance to talk to Lola about combining our votes? I managed to discover that one of the other tribe mates is willing to join votes with us, too. But the member is very worried about it and wants to remain secret for now, at least until the first vote is out of the way. Changing sides can be tricky. The member said that their member who got the most votes total so far is Meggie with 2 votes total. Since Lola got immunity, that leaves you and me for them to vote for. I haven't gotten any votes, obviously. Have you gotten more than 2 votes? If not, then we can could stragetically vote Meggie and keep ourselves safe. Do you think that is a good strategy?"
Mandy looks around to see if anyone else has followed them..."Bri, Lola doesn't want to commit to anything yet."
"I, however, think you have a good idea!" "You can count on me." she whispers back.

After checking to make sure no one followed along or is lurking in the bushes, Briene says to Lola, "Did Mandy talk to you about my idea? I wondered if you would like to join votes so we all could survive a little longer. I also managed to discover that one of the other tribe mates is willing to join votes with us, too. But the member is very worried about it and wants to remain secret for now, at least until the first vote is out of the way. Changing sides can be tricky. The member said that their member who got the most votes total so far is Meggie with 2 votes total. Since you got immunity, that leaves Mandy and me for them to vote for. I haven't gotten any votes, obviously. Has Mandy gotten more than 2 votes? If not, then we can could stragetically vote Meggie and keep ourselves safe. Do you think that is a good strategy?"
Lola looks around to make sure it is safe to talk. "I don't remember how many votes Mandy has had but I don't think it was more than two, if it was even two. I know she had at least one." She hesitates. "I've really been debating who to vote for and whether or not to have an alliance. I thought Pierre said that it caused trouble with the Nicarongs before. While I definitely think it's important for us newbies to stick together, I don't want to alienate the other kids, especially when we are just getting to know them."
She looks around again. "Also, I'm not sure if Meggie ever returned to camp. She might be wandering around the woods and overhear us. I am just trying to be cautious. I don't want her going back to camp and telling the other kids and then ganging up on us. Please don't misunderstand. I want to be your friend. But for now, I really don't want to be part of an alliance until I've had time to form some opinions about all the kids."
Briene looks cautiously around before replying to Lola, "I understand you being cautious. Since you have the immunity necklace you have the luxury of being able to wait and see. But Mandy and I don't stand a chance. We are sitting ducks without some insurance. Frankly, you aren't guranteed immunity for the next challenge and you could be the next to be voted off by the Nicarongs. This alliance is a slippery slope for sure, but if we don't take a chance and go for it now we will not have enough members left in the alliance to have any strength come next week. As the saying goes, it is now or never. I don't want to pressure you but I need to know if you are in or not so I can go about insuring my own survival. Tribal council is tonight.
Lola nods. "I know that I could easily get voted off next week. And I understand why you and Mandy want an alliance." She gives this considerable thought. "I guess what worries me is whether or not the other person in your alliance could be a double agent. You know, telling you they are with you and giving you info about how the Nics voted in the past and then squealing to the other kids." She giggles. "Am I too suspicious of people?"
Lola continues. "The other thing is that even if four of us had an alliance, they could still go after Mandy this week and it could be a tie and she might be voted off." Lola shakes her head. "This is a very small island with too many hiding places. It is too easy for us to be overheard and get the others mad at us. For now, I think I'd better just do my work and do my best at the challenges and not have any alliances. I hope you understand."
Briene looks around again and waits a few minutes to be sure no one is following behind, then says "Lola, you have been playing this game a whole lot longer than I have. To be honest, none of us have any gurantees that we all aren't playing each of us off of the other. Being a little paranoid is good. But rationalize through this - even if the the Nic. member is a double agent, going into this alliance now will at least gurantee another week with Mandy and me. That would make for better odds going into next week's tribal council, too. I don't realistically have much hope of getting to the end. I'm just trying to buy some time. My one measly vote might not mean much now, but if I last a few weeks it might be worth a little more... I am basically giving it to you right now. We have to trust each other to a certain extent, at least. Are we getting close to the Nicarong camp yet?
Lola looks ahead. "Yes, I think the camp is right up here, at least if I'm looking at the map right." She leads the way to camp and looks around to see what's left. "Bri, I understand what you're saying. And maybe I am being too paranoid. I guess we if we all stick together it would buy us some time. They have all been friends now for a couple of months and it will be hard for us to break through the bond they have. Okay, I will join your alliance." She giggles. "But if Meggie is still hiding in the woods and overhears us, you have to be my slave for a week."

Trey finds something interesting as he goes to dig the potty at the new Kansi Beach Camp.
As Trey walks off with the shovel he sees it is pretty dirty, and realizes they hadn't seen it since the week 6 immunity challenge. The dirt on it is old and crusty and there are some dead dry leaves on there too, but not the kind you see around camp, these are the leaves of the wetter bigger jungle trees from inside the interior of the island, maybe mangrove, not taro... you don't remember seeing any of these kind of leaves in the immediate nicarong camp...just in the jungle a way, further than you guys usually went for food or things. weird.
He thinks to himself, "WHAT?????? This sounds like a clue to Meggies blanket maybe? Was it someone from our team or the other team?"
*******************************************
After she leaves Tribal Council Meghan is led to a small area where she can gather her thoughts and Gia asks if she has any comments now that she has been voted out.
Then Meggie is taken to a luxury suite with shower, jacuzzi, TV/VCR and comfy chairs and a room filled with snacks and food and soda. A bedroom is off to the side. She'll get to stay in this suite and participate as an observer at each tribal council until it is time for her and the rest of the jury to choose the Lil Survivor. All her needs are fulfilled in this suite, including a phone call home to talk to her mommy once a day.
She sees that the bedroom has soft comfortable bunkbeds, 3 sets of them, so the jury will sleep together in here.
*******************************************
When Pierre gets a moment alone in the jungle he turns to the nearby cameraman and looks straight into the camera, saying "I am sorry Meggie went but if you are interested in my logic I will share. When I asked these people to be in an alliance I said No matter what we don't vote for each other until it is necessary LOYALTY! As far as I was concerned the alliance never ended! LOL Just couldn't talk about it. LOL"
