First Day at Kansi Camp!

After yesterday's frantic race for the Immunity challenge, everyone was simply too tired to really explore their new home, but in the morning light they are almost overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. The other camps were pretty too, but this beach was chosen for obvious reasons of sheer beauty. As the kids begi to set up their home for the duration of the game, they cannot help but admire the new scenery and view.

The path from the camp into the jungle and the challenge beach is all lush green trees and wild tropical flowers. The same fruit trees as in the other areas offer up their bounty to the kids. There are the green tangerines, oranges, papaya, and other delights.
In the new gear you see a pretty handwritten note from Gia, a short poem written about Kosrae
(author unknown)

An ocean the color of jewels you want to wear.
A smile so dazzling it invites you to stay awhile longer.
These are the sights of Kosrae.
The ebb and flow of the tides;
the rain beating on the thatch
and the birds wakening you with song.
These are the sounds of Kosrae.
Have you ever smelled the color green?
That is the smell of Kosrae."

The flowers are much more prolific here than either of the previous camps, lining the edges of the clearing and every breeze sends another fragrant scent to the camp, plumeria, orchids, hibiscus, the wild ginger flowers are breathtaking.

The beach opens onto the ocean, and just past a large clump of palm trees, you slip past a narrow strip of the beach and around the corner is a reef and rocky outcropping off to one side. the shallow water and smooth flat rocks are perfect for kicking back and just relaxing.

A partial lagoon is formed by the shape of the outer reef and there is have a spectacular view from the southwestern edge of the island. The kids can see lots of fish here, and even another sea turtle!
