Feeling blue and all stressed out? Missing family, and friends no doubt. It's time to mingle and spend the day at a Luau feast with fun and play! With the other team you can brag and boast, but the reward prize goes to who eats the most!

All day Reward Challenge Luau! Wednesday at Challenge Beach stop by anytime between 10AM and midnight central. no-brainer challenge guaranteed!,

As you approach the beach you hear wonderful native music and see a row of 5 young girls in grass skirts and modest gathered tube tops as they dance a form of the hula, in slow patterned movements. Older women in muumuus stand across from them and are singing in some of what sounds like the choir music on sundays. As you walk between them, a feast and food and flowers greets your eyes.

You see heaped platters of grilled tuna, bowls of steaming ramen noodles mixed with chicken, or beef, chicken teriyaki, sushimi and rice, fafa, a local delicacy of balls of sweet taro covered with a caramel sugar sauce. You see a mouth-watering sukiyaki dish with meat and papaya, fresh tapioca coconut pudding, there is um mas (baked breadfruit), trays of kutak (steamed taro) and a huge bowl of ainpat (banana mixed with coconut milk and breadfruit). A platter of sirloin pepper beefsteaks has been brought in from nearby Pohnpei for the feast, and there are loaves of fresh breads and even baked banana bread. For dessert you see pineapples, and fruit salads of all kinds. A pig is prepared to be roasted later, and it looks like that will be the main course later in the day, but until then there are dozens of delicacies to try and taste!,Gia stands in the center welcoming each player as they arrive. there are tables and benches to eat at, plus blankets on the sand. there are frisbees and a few boardgames and a nice fire around which to sit and eat and just talk.

"Hi, my name's Mandy! I am here for a few minutes. I can only stay a few minutes, but will pop in again later. I have water boiling back at camp to purify it and I can't let it boil dry."

Mandy spies the frisbees and thinks that is what she wants to play with first!

Gia waves her hand at all the food, "help yourself! Everything is great." There is milk, iced tea, sodapop and even chocolate milk for beverages.

Mandy says, "Thank you, Gia for holding this Luau! We have all been so hungry for other foods. This will be a real treat!"

Mandy walks over to the foods and helps herself to some of the ramen noodles with beef and some of the balls of Taro in caramel sauce. They all look great! She doesn't want to seem too hungry so she stops herself and takes her plate over to a table...

Mandy jumps up when she hears Gia mention soda pop! "Do you have Pepsi?" she asks eagerly.

All too soon, Mandy remembers the water boiling back at camp. "Oh, I've got to get the water off the fire back at camp!" she says. She promises to try to return later. It looks like so much fun!

Gia laughs, "we have Pepsi, Coke, Mountain Dew and Root Beer!"

She gets herself a plate of sukiyaki and digs in.

Lola arrives and takes in the buffet, her eyes getting wider as she sees just how many choices there are. She eagerly fills a plate with sukiyaki, tapioca, banana bread, and ramen noodles, then grabs a glass of chocolate milk. Milk is one of the things she's missed most since being on Kosrae. As she heads for a table, she stops by Gia. "Wow, I can't believe all this. Thank you. And please thank the producers too." She goes to a table and settles down to eat.

Gia is noshin on a bowl of the tapioca when Lola arrives. She points to a bunch of native men setting large rocks lining a firepit ner where the whole pig is prepared, complete with a piece of fruit in its mouth....

"That's the umw (pronounced oom rhymes with zoom)...it is a firepit that has heated rocks in it, and they pull the rocks, and put the pig in it...then they pile the hot rocks on the pig, cover the umw with banana leaves or taro leaves, the large ones, to keep the steam in, and they roast the pig that way. When it is done, they are going to put it on a large platter on its back, and carve pieces off it for us."

Inita shyly joins the party. She helps herself to grilled tuna, ramen noodles with chicken, tapioca coconut pudding, ainpat, fresh bread, fruit salad, and chocolate milk. That should do for the first trip to the buffet. ;-)

Inita settles herself on a blanket to dig in. She carefully paces herself for a long day of eating ahead.

Gia says "feel free to talk with the other tribe folks, this is your first chance to get to know the people who could be your new tribemates in 3 weeks when you merge."

"The challenges today are fun games, and participation is voluntary, but there are some fun prizes to be won each round, so if or when you want to play, we need 1 player from each tribe to step up and whenever there are 2 players ready I will run a game... "

Lola listens attentively. "How interesting," she says between bites. "I've never seen a pig roasted before. Does it taste like pork chops or maybe bacon?" she asks hopefully.

Gia smiles, "it tastes like ham, but some parts of it are juicier than others. It's very rich flavored."

As you chat the native women bring out even more dishes, flavored white sticky rice that has been formed in molds shaped like a fish, a crab, a canoe, and a dolphin (or maybe it is a shark), rice that has been dyed either yellow and red for a really festive look, there is some potato salad, and sweet fried bananas, (really plantains). By the way the plates are woven squares of palm fronds. If you are thirsty, in the cooler, peek in and you will see any canned soda you can imagine, mixed in with drinking coconuts that are really yummy chilled!

Lola decides to make the first move. She moves her plate a little closer to her tablemate. "Hi Inita. I'm Lola. I think we raced in the boat races, didn't we?"

Lola continues, "I can't believe all this food. Wow, we will all have tummyaches for sure. My tribe is getting very tired of eating the same thing all the time. How about yours?"

Wow! I can't believe this FEAST! I figure this first helping will make me sick, but then the rest should stay down OK. So far, so good, though.

We raced? I really can't remember, sorry. I have been distracted lately - missing home.

Lola nods. "Me too. We have all been talking about our families and it has made me homesick."

Lola hesitates. "Do you want to try the challenge? Maybe we'll get extra points for being first." She giggles at her joke.

Lola calls to Gia. "Hey, we're ready to try this. I hope it isn't an eating contest because we're both pretty full."

Gia laughs at Inita's ladylike belch... "Okay girls!!! this is between just the two of you... the game is simple, Inita can start and she names a celebrity, comedian, actor, author, whatever, alive or dead, and the LAST letter of their last name is what Lola has to start her word with... Like if I said Robin Williams, the next person sould have to name a comedian that starts with S. the first person who can't name a name on their turn (and I'll allow 2 minits at most between postings) loses.

"The prize is! Ta-DA!" Gia pulls out a box of ho-ho snacks. To keep for yourself or share with your tribe...
