The Island Welcome

In the early morning hours the plane approaches an island and the Captain announces a landing! Excitement runs high and all eyes look to the windows to get the first glimpse of your home for the next several weeks!

It's a smooth landing, only a little scary, and you all exit the plane with a strong mixture of trepidation and complete curiosity...

The plane has landed...it is time to get off of your little air conditioned oasis. As you exit the small plane, you are overwhelmed with the heat and moisture in the air. It is hard to get enough oxygen at first...it smells moist, and living, and like it just rained.(It probably did!)

You notice a small building that is open to the air. As you walk across the asphalt, you begin to adapt to the moisture...but your clothes are sticking to your body. The moisture from the air and your own sweat make you feel damp all over. You see a bunch of little black lizards moving around in the grass, and sickly green geckos stuck to the walls and windows of the airport building....There are palm trees visible, and you see a very blue ocean around.

The mountainous island is a thousand of shades of green, and you don't really see the ground.. anywhere past the airport. You see trees, some of them completely covered in vines...The locals call it uhl, an attendant mentions. The more observant of you might recognize a banana tree...but you see palm trees and other kinds too. One of the girls riding with you steps in front of everyone else and takes a clipboard from an attendant. (didn't anyone else notice there were 17 children in the pictures and only 16 players?)

She waves you all near and smiling, says, "Welcome to Survivor Island! I am Gia Paolo, the your hostess. I will walk you thru the challenges, the tribal councils, and will interview you each from time to time."

An island native then beckons the players forward as she places a fragrant colorful lei around the neck of each Lil Survivor. It takes a few minutes to stretch out your legs and take in the moist humid air, but you look around and realize you could be here the next 2 months, or only the next few days.
An open truck pulls up and Gia smiles and tells everyone to climb on in, but as each player steps to the open back, Gia, ties a blindfold around their eyes. Hands help each player to a bench as Gia explains that you will now be taken to the point at which your teams are split, and each is given their supplies and map to your new home, howe ver temporary it may be. You heart races as the truck begins to jolt and thump its way down the primitive dusty road. At least the breeze feels good against your face, though the sweat begins to trickle down the back of your neck. You smell the fresh sea air and think you are on the coast, but then even thru the blindfold you feel the sunshine go away, and smell wet grass and damp woods and think you must be in the jungle now! Oh what an adventure!

Back to the very beginning!
