Hello and welcome to The March web page!

Next Rally is ????

Well, it seems that the rallies are over for the foreseeable future.  Do to an overwhelming lack of support, we do not plan on running another rally any time soon.  We currently have only 4 or 5 people interested after all of the efforts put in over the last few months.   This is not set in stone!  If you'd like to see us put together another round of Rallies, please let me know.  For now though, our time and money can be better spent fighting for the Second Amendment in different avenues.

We've got a couple ideas in the works.  But we still like the idea of the Rallies.  Especially in the hometowns of our representatives during the summer recess.  And during an election year to boot!  However, we need more people willing to attend before we can justify the time and money we'd need to spend to put it all together.

For now, I'm leaving the rest of the page as it was.

Sure, we made some mistakes on the first set of rallies, but, all in all, for a first time effort by a couple guys who have never tried anything like this before, I think things went pretty well.  Of course, having our permit pulled at the last minute didn't help us too much in IL, some of the other states had very excellent turnouts.

So, we're planning another set of rallies.  The next set will take place in mid-2000.  Once we get an exact date, we'll let you know.  The long term goal is still the March in Washington DC.  But, we need to drum up a lot more local support before we can hope to pull that off.

We are thinking of holding the next set of rallies in the hometowns of our representatives during their recess.  Any comments or suggestions?

Something New!
I'm trying out a new Message Board.  It's still in the temporary testing stages, but feel free to give it a try!  Follow this link...
What is the purpose of the March?
First, we want to show America, the World, and the other Gun Owners that there are still people in this country that care about and support the ideals and values that created The United States of America.  Second, we want to show the politicians that we are a large percentage of the population (35% of the voting age public) and that when we stand together we can make or break any one of them.  Finally we want to show everyone, especially the  closet Gun Owners, that we are not blood crazed idiots.
What are we doing at the rallies?
We're still working on it.  We will begin the rally with the Pledge of Allegiance at 1:05pm Central time, probably followed by a prayer.  We plan to collect signatures for a Petition.  We're still working the rest out.  Any suggestions?  Feel free to email us with any ideas you have.

The ground rules for The March:

What do we need you to do?

Contact you State Leader, and ask what needs to be done, and where to go.

If you do not yet have a State Leader, then feel free to contact either Glenn or Justin and find out what is going on.  We need more State Leaders!

Don't have a State Leader yet?  What we need you to do is contact the city hall of the city you are planning on holding the rally at.  They have a specific department the receptionist will connect you to when you mention you want to run a rally.  If they ask, tell them that you are with "Children of Liberty" whose purpose is to promote patriotism and old fashioned values.  Do not volunteer any information that you want to hold a "pro-gun rally".  Do not lie if they ask you, but do not offer the information unless they ask you about it.  While the focus of this rally is indeed pro-gun, it is about more than that.  They will be more than happy to help you, but may try stop the rally before it starts if they find out that we are pro-gun.  Find out how much it will cost, if anything.  They most likely have a packet that can be faxed or mailed to you.  Finally, ask them if August 21st is available.

Please note that you may show up and have a protest even without city permission.  Some people have opted for this route to avoid red tape.  This is fine.

What to bring?
Banners, Signs, Friends, Neighbors, Kids, Fellow Gun Owners, Flags, Petitions...

The Ballot Box

We're going to have everyone bring a symbolic Ballot Box to leave at the Capitol building.  Find out more about it here.

State Leaders

The following is a list of current State Leaders.  Please feel free to contact the person in your state for any information.

The Flyer and Petition

Okay, we have made a flyer to hand out in your local gun shops and anywhere else you can to drum up some support.  If you live in one of the above states, please add your State Leader's contact information to the flyer if you can. Get the Flyer here.

We've also put together a petition to have everyone sign.  Just make lots of copies of page two and make sure everyone who is collecting signatures has at least one copy of page one. Get the Petition here.

The above links are for the Flyer and Petition in MS Word format.  For those of you who do not have MS Word, the following links are in Rich Text Format.  This will work with Wordpad in Windows 95/98.

Flyer.rtf  (This will not be available until we get an exact date)
