is is the view across the "Big Square" with the Jesuit church behind me. The steep roofs and dormer windows are typical of the German cities of this period.

Sensibly, the square and some adjacent streets are pedestrian only.

It is characteristic of the city to have each building a solid color.

he fair lady on the left is a caryatid, a carved figure that serves as a column. Caryatids can be found on the Acropolis in Athens and on many older buildings in Bucharest but I have never seen so many as in Romania.

This figure has more character than many. It almost seems like an image of a particular person. The hand at her head supporting a load of some sort makes the physical connection with the patio above seem natural.
