How could the "Paris of the East" be complete without an Arc de Triumph? This Arch was built after World War I when Romania gained substantial territory from the defeated and defunct Austro-Hungarian Empire. As anyone will be glad to explain to you, the land they won was peopled by Romanian speakers who had been badly treated by the Hapsburgs. Of course, if you talked to the other side, you would hear a different story.
