It is certainly unfair to single out
Rosehill in any discussion of cemetery sentiment and sentimentality.

indeed, our definition of what is bad taste changes with
time. I have seen a number of mourning bronze women in
Chicago cemeteries.

Grief is an intense emotion. Here the
family has decided to express that intensity in a way
that no passerby could miss. This expression of grief
may possibly make the leap from sentiment to sentimentality.
You be the judge.

Here we have another enclosed sculpture
-- a full size creation -- raises the question of sentiment

I find an intense sadness in the face
of this woman. It seems highly appropriate for a place
of death.
