Ohio, on Sept. 7, 1819. Elected governor of Indiana in 1872. Elected to the vice presidency on the ticket headed by Grover CLEVELAND
in 1884. He served less than nine months, until his death in Indianapolis on
Nov. 25, 1885.

The nephew of Indiana Gov. William Hendricks, Hendricks grew up in Shelbyville, served as
both a state and national representative, and was commissioner of the General Land Office
during the land boom years of the 1850s.

Pa., October 12, 1822. Member of Indiana state house of
representatives, 1853; major in the Union Army during the Civil War;
candidate for justice of Indiana state supreme court, 1858. Died in
Indianapolis, Ind., November 25, 1887. Burial location unknown.
