Thomas Andrews Henricks (1819-85) Groliers On LIne

He was born near Zanesville, (Muskingum county) Ohio, on Sept. 7, 1819. Elected governor of Indiana in 1872. Elected to the vice presidency on the ticket headed by Grover CLEVELAND in 1884. He served less than nine months, until his death in Indianapolis on Nov. 25, 1885.

The nephew of Indiana Gov. William Hendricks, Hendricks grew up in Shelbyville, served as both a state and national representative, and was commissioner of the General Land Office during the land boom years of the 1850s.
