Everyone in Shandra's family is an artist. Her sister Moonbeam likes to draw and paint. Her sister Cassie loves to do ceramics with Mommy and Grandma. Daddy makes ceramics, he draws on the computer, plus he even makes glass beads and little glass animals! Mommy paints and sews, and does ceramics, and makes jewelry too! Granda Spengler has her own kiln and sculpts lots of pieces of artwork. She also paints beautiful pictures of flowers and has paintings all over the whole house! Killashandra needs a lot more practice, but she likes to draw.
	Karla and Darla start looking around as Shandra tells them about her family. Grandma Spengler works with ceramics, making sculptures from tiny to reallllly big! Some of her art is very abstract and looks almost like rocks, but some of it looks like people! She rubs special metals and powders on them to make it look dark, or shiny, or special. The sculpture Darla stands next to is all shiny black, almost like lava rock!
Shandra climbs into a neat piece that her Daddy Chazz made. He said it was a nut dish, but Shandra knew he was joking. He made it by rolling clay out into a flat piece, then bending parts up and parts down, then putting lines in the center. After they cooked it he painted red and blue curvy lines all over in a real pretty pattern.
Karla and Darla look at a sculpture of a man sitting down. Darla says "He looks really sad. I think he is crying!" but Karla says "nuh unh! I think he is just sleeping." She makes a funny noise like someone snoring. Shandra giggles and tells them "That is what is so cool about artwork. You can always look at it and everyone will see different things. I think he is playing hide and seek and he is 'it' so he is counting with his eyes closed!!!"
They look at a few more pieces and Shandra says, "I love coming here! Everytime she has something new to look at."
