Directions To Mike's House: 6737 Wainwright Dr. 1-630-724-1576 home |
You will need to get to I-355 by any means convenient to you. I live a mile or so west of I-355 at 63rd street/Hobson Road. This is at the southern end of I-355. If you travel to I-355 via the Stevenson or 75th street exit north on I-355. If you travel to I-355 by the 88/East-West toll way, Ogden Ave., Butterfield, Roosevelt, or North Ave., exit south on I-355.

From either North or South on I-355, exit at the combination 63rd Street-Hobson Road. At the top of the ramp will be a light. YOU WILL TURN West ONTO HOBSON ROAD. 63rd and Hobson Road run into each other to the East of I-355. YOU WANT TO GO WEST ONTO HOBSON ROAD. Hobson road is a 4-lane road and will curve a bit immediately after the overpass. Warning: 63rd picks up again just about here. DO NOT GET ON IT. It is off to the right and it looks like a sparse country road. STAY ON HOBSON! About 0.4 (not real sure of this distance) mile from I-355 on Hobson you will come to a light. The cross street is Woodridge drive. DO NOT TURN - GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, AND STAY ON HOBSON ROAD. About here you will see the following: On the Right: Public Pool; Strip Mall - several little shops including a Convenient Store and a Coldwell Banker office; and off in the distance will be the Woodridge Water Tower. On the Left: You will see very tall, metal, high tension, power line towers. As soon as you see the power line towers on the left side of Hobson, get ready to turn RIGHT onto Wainwright. The turn is shortly after you pass the power line towers and on the right. (If you reach the major intersection of Hobson and Rt. 53 you have gone to far.) The house is about half a block in on Wainwright, at the corner of Wainwright and Patton. The house has a two-car garage, powder blue siding, and light brick facade. 6737 Wainwright Drive.

Go to Union Station (Canal St. between Adams and Jackson Blvd. 1-312-322-4269 - Be careful there is another station called Ogilvie Transprotation Center (formerly C and NW Station) and it is the wrong station. Many cab drivers don't know the difference!) and take a Burlington Northern Metra Train. These trains leave (in general) from the south concourse of the station. Check the electronic board at the gate or a timetable to make sure that the train you have selected will make a stop at Belmont Ave., Downers Grove (1-630-960-0682). It is a busy, major station and with the exception of a few express trains to Naperville/Aurora, most of the trains make this stop. BUT DOUBLE CHECK!
An express run will take about 30 minutes to get to the Belmont station and a normal run will take about 45 minutes to an hour.
Once you get to the station call me for a ride. If you have a cell phone bring it, and call me once you are on the train with your approximate arrival time (See number above.) and I will meet you at the station. The station building is NOT always open, especially in the late afternoon and evenings. There is a pay phone outside but if it is cold outside or raining I would not want to depend on the phone working.
Otherwise, you can call a cab. Here are two
possibilities:

BUT CALL ME I WILL BE HAPPY TO PICK YOU UP!!
