These files require that you have a *configured* MIDI-compatible sound card or General MIDI-compatible Synthesizer and that your browser be configured with an in-line MIDI Player or refer to an external MIDI Player executable (e.g. Windows mplayer.exe). If you do *not* have a wave table (sampled) MIDI Card, all instruments will play but may sound poorly. You may go to the ARE WAVE Page for any sound card and get decent reproduction but at the cost of long download times.
