More clueless users :(

As I said in the last post from TCP Towers, it really does seem that 1996 is year of the dumb luser. John has had to help a very clueless AOL Mac customer, and I have had to help out some of the following people. Its worrying that quite a few of these are not-quite-customers-yet. I have to ask myself "Why am I helping these people out ?" And then I think "Oh, I know, to get paid".

[sigh] Lusers. Can't LART a clue into them. Don't get paid without them. Anyway, to some of the questions.

"Winsock is performing illegal acts" (I think john handled this one)
"Can I phone anywhere on the Internet ?" [sigh] it was fun[1] explaining to this person how the net would work from his point of view. It was even more fun later on explaining the same thing to a different person. I have to admit that it would be more worrying if I had to explain the same thing to the same person again.
Me: All of the prices don't include VAT[2]
User: Okay
Me: The setup fee is <grumblesmurf> GBP and...
User: [Interrupting] Does that include VAT ?
Me: No, all prices need to have VAT added to them
User: Okay
Me: The monthly fee is <icky-fing> GBP. This inc...
User: [Interrupting] Does that include VAT ?
Me: No, all prices need to have VAT added to them
Having to talk someone through the on-line subscription program. It is a little worrying that even Mr "I'm not a computer person" managed to get through this program unadded. I also had to talk the proto-customer through a program that I've never used before (HyperTerm).

[1]	Fun in the not fun sense of the word :)
[2]	VAT - Value Added Tax. Its the sales tax of the UK.. which is set to 17.5% right now.
