Illinois Spring Bird Count

The statewide Illinois Spring Bird Count is held in early May (often before migration peak in northern Illinois). The date for 2008 is May 10 (Saturday). It is organized by county. The state is subdivided into four areas from south to north. County compilers and contact information are indicated. Entries in parentheses indicate information from a previous year. Birders are especially encouraged to participate in the following counties which have seen 3 or fewer participants (for an entire county!) last year: Brown, Carroll, Cass, Clay, Ford, Franklin, Gallatin, Greene (not reported in 2006), Grundy, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, Macoupin, Massac, Menard. Montgomery, Morgan, Moultrie, Ogle, Perry, Pulaski, Saline (not reported in 2006), Sangamon, Stark, Tazewell, Wayne, and White. These counties are listed in BOLD.
