In general, we collect only the information necessary to operate and administer the site. We don't care about or ask for your address, phone number, and so on. We do need an email address so we can contact you, but we don't care if it an alias or a web-based account. We record your name, but only for the purpose of allowing class instructors to admit you into a class, so we don't care whether it is your legal name or not.

Of course, because of the nature of the service we provide, we collect a great deal of information about your activities here. We obviously keep track of what words you know, what words you have trouble with, and so on. Although we don't always do it, you should assume that we may record your IP address, keystrokes, mouse clicks, and even timing information, since that may help us to improve the service.

We do not sell any information about you, nor do we exchange any of it with other companies. We release personal data about your account only:

• When we believe we are legally required to do so, for example if we are served with a subpoena, or
• As part of an investigation of possible fraud or abuse of this site.
