There is a 13-hour time difference between Chicago and Beijing, and the flight itself is about 13 hours, so everyone was seriously jet-lagged when we arrived. Anticipating this, the staff at Sunny Ridge scheduled the flight so we would arrive a few days before the actual placement. While we waited for our biological clocks to adjust, we used the time to do a little sight-seeing.
Everyone who visits China has to have their picture taken Climbing the Great Wall. The day we went was a national holiday, so even by Chinese standards it was crowded. The Wall itself is quite impressive. (No, we didn't walk the whole thing. It's about 4000 miles long.) |
Our whole group took a rickshaw ride through the old historic section of Beijing. One guy on a bike really does pull two people in the rickshaw. |
